Kimetsu no Yaiba: Episode 15 + 16 Recap.

Episode 15: Mount Natagumo and Episode 16: Letting Someone Else Go First.

The trio are all healed up and it appears that Zenitsu has a crush on Nezuko.

As they are better now, a crow comes with instructions that the three are to make their way to Mt. Natagumo. They arrive at its base but Zenitsu is too scared to go into the forest. Tanjiro picks up a scent and rushes forward with Inosuke and Zenitsu following. They find a wounded comrade but before they can do anything else, he is yanked into the forest.

Tanjiro runs after him with Inosuke following but Zenitsu stays back, still scared. Tanjiro and inosuke come across another Demon Slayer, Murata, in the forest. Murata tells them that ten high ranking Slayers had come in and had started attacking each other.

Elsewhere, the Demon Slayer Commander enlists Tomioka Giyu and Shinobu as backup to go and assess the situation at Mt. Natagumo so no more of his ‘children’ aka Demon Slayers are killed.

Back at the mountain, Zenitsu realises that Tanjiro has taken Nezuko with him and manages to gather enough courage to go into the mountain himself.

Tanjiro and Inosuke are fighting the out-of-control Demon Slayers. Tanjiro smells the thread that is controlling the Demon Slayers and works to free them by cutting the thread only to have a demoness send her spiders to attach more. A pale and white-haired boy appears above the Demon Slayers and tells them that Mother will kill them before leaving. He also mentions to himself that the five of them will live happily and no one will keep them apart.

Tanjiro convinces Inosuke to use his Spiritual Awareness to find the Demoness responsible for the situation as he and Murata try to deal with the other Demon Slayers. Inosuke manages to locate her and Murata tells them that he’ll handle the Demon Slayers. But of course, it’s not going to be that easy. The demoness manipulates a female Demon Slayer and sends her to intercept them.

Rui then appears before the Demoness, calling her Mother. He tells her that she should hurry or else he’ll tell Father that she’s taking too long. Terrified, mother begs him not to tell and starts controlling the Demon Slayers recklessly, breaking their bones with harsh movements. Tanjiro comes up with the idea that tangling the threads in the trees would make them unable to fight. As they are about to tangle the last one, Mother breaks their necks since they’re now useless to her. Angry and scared, she sends in her strongest ‘doll’ but Inosuke and Tanjiro manage to defeat it.

Deciding to end the entire ordeal once and for all, Inosuke throws Tanjiro to where Mother is located. She panics and tries to think of a way to defend herself but realises that if she’s killed, she won’t have to live in fear of Father anymore. She allows Tanjiro to kill her and sensing her acceptance, Tanjiro changes his stance so she can pass on peacefully. 

This may sound morbid but Mother’s death was animated beautifully.

As thanks for her warm and peaceful death, Mother tells Tanjiro that one of the Twelve Moons is on the mountain.
